The My 600-Lb. Life Show captures the journey of obese individuals who have made the decision to lose weight and live a healthy life. Dr. Younan Nowzaradan, who is called Dr. Now on the show, helps these individuals through their seemingly difficult journey. Lucas Higdon, who appeared on season 10 of the show, speaks out about Dr. Now’s methods.
Lucas Shares Their Eating Routine
Lucas, like many other obese individuals, struggles with food addiction. The 33-year-old Texas resident has had many ups and downs in trying to lose weight. He once lost weight when he began playing football due to his coaches’ request, but he soon relapsed and gained the weight back. On the show, Lucas admitted that due to his large figure, he had difficulties performing simple day-to-day activities and had to fully rely on his family.
Lucas Higdon Discusses Dr. Now’s Approach With Fans
When Lucas eventually got fed up with his way of life, he decided to enroll in the program with Dr. Now. With discipline and determination, Lucas was able to lose 80 pounds in three months to qualify for the weight loss program. This has made Lucas believe that achieving his weight loss goal was possible.
Recently, a Reddit user inquired about Dr. Now’s methods. “I was just wondering whether he believes in cutting out certain foods completely altogether, even when the patients do successfully with his initial 1200 calorie-a-day diet plan, then have the surgery and keep the weight off?” the Redditor asked. Lucas then responded to the question. He said that “honestly, every time I see Dr. Now, he is making sure I’m eating healthy.
He wants me to cut out extra fatty and sugary foods, Dr. Now doesn’t call the long-after-surgery diet ‘dieting’ but rather just having a normal eating routine. Make sure to eat this portion of meat, this portion of grains, cut out most of the carbs, etc.” he then continued, “mostly I believe it is because he wants us to make it a habit to eat right, eat less, and eat less often. We have trained ourselves to do that.” Lucas also believes that dealing with food addiction is “the hardest goddamn thing anyone can ever do.”
