One of the best things in professional wrestling these past few months has been Konosuke Takeshita and his United States excursion. The ace of DDT spent a few months, and while he worked as many smaller indy shows as possible – most attention was placed on his time in AEW, and for good reason. His matches against Hangman Page, Eddie Kingston, Jon Moxley, and Claudio Castagnoli had fans asking when he’d be back – and next time, he might not leave.
Konosuke Takeshita Wants To Work Full Time In The United States
While speaking through a translator with Michael Nakazawa, we’d get the following information from Konosuke Takeshita. His trip to the United States was more than an excursion, as he wants to move to the country and wrestle full time here. Nakazawa would be quoted saying the following.
“He didn’t mean to do an excursion. His goal is to move here and make his living by wrestling here. This is not an excursion. He might have to go back to Japan eventually, but he didn’t mean it. This is not an excursion for him. He tried to come here, move here, make a living on his own by wrestling. That’s why he chose AEW.”
He’d follow up by saying ““I hope to return to the US, ASAP. Maybe October or November. I hope so. I have to talk with DDT.”
An AEW x DDT Deal Might Be In The Works For Takeshita
It’s likely that AEW will allow a split contract, as to keep an open relationship with DDT Pro Wrestling, and not completely poaching one of their top stars. AEW is a fairly flexible company, with you simply needing to let them know when you take outside bookings, to ensure they don’t interfere with TV schedules.
The likes of Riho & Hikaru Shida have been able to work in Japan and the United States, while PAC has worked in the United Kingdom & United States. The groundwork is already in place for someone like Takeshita to get a deal like this, and allow him the best of both worlds.
Having done it all in DDT, and with seemingly no interest in jumping to New Japan Pro Wrestling – moving to the United States and becoming a star there is the logical next step for someone as talented as Takesthia.
