The calls for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle to be stripped of their royal titles have grown in the aftermath of the Duchess of Sussex’s interview with ‘The Cut.’

Meghan made a series of controversial statements, which divided the public. This included an admission that the British media had branded her son with the n-word, without actually calling out the person that was responsible.
In addition, there was a claim that Meghan felt she would not have been able to do the school run if she was in the UK due to the paparazzi. This is despite the clear royal protocol in place where photos of children are prearranged.
And given that these disclosures had all happened on the eve of the 25th anniversary of Princess Diana’s death, it left a bitter taste in the mouth.
This is especially since it happened with Harry’s knowledge, even if he did not authorise it since he now knows what has come out. Reporter Allison Pearson made it clear that the couple should have their titles removed.
She said: “Clearly, it’s time the Sussexes lost their royal titles whose privileges they enjoy without the accompanying responsibilities and restraints.”
If that did end up happening, there is no denying that it would have a significant impact on the couple’s brand going forward.
One of the primary reasons why they continue to hold an influence is because the title offers opportunities that may not have otherwise been available.
It is very hard to suggest that the couple would have secured lucrative Netflix and Spotify deals without the titles. But if Meghan continues to speak out in a negative light, it could create further resentment.
Allison’s following comments confirmed as much: “When it touches on criticising the monarchy – that has been quite damaging. People here have sort of been asking themselves: ‘Would you do that to your in-laws?”
