Nate Diaz won at the UFC 279 event over Tony Ferguson via a guillotine choke submission in the fourth round and got his long-awaited release from the UFC promotion. In the post-fight interview, he released a statement that he might transition into another combat sport, and try to dominate there as well.
Transitioning into boxing has been rumored for Nate Diaz for a long time. Jake Paul started fighting UFC fighters and basically dominating them. That created a spot for Nate Diaz to prove that not all fighters willing to exit the UFC are not skilled enough.
Nate Diaz Would Be The Betting Favorite In A Potential Jake Paul Fight
Since the fight between these two is most likely to happen at some point in the future, online gambling websites opened up Nate Diaz as a favorite. While Nate Diaz is up as a -200 betting favorite, Jake Paul is falling back as a +150 underdog.
Aside from Nate Diaz, Jake Paul first needs to worry about Anderson The Spider Silva. He will face the former UFC champion at a boxing match in Arizona on the 29th of October this year.
Jake and Nate both show interest in stepping into the ring against each other. However, the likelihood of the match happening until the end of this year is very low. It also depends on the outcome of the Jake Paul vs Anderson Silva fight it may take up to several months for Jake Paul to train and prepare for a fight with Diaz.
Nate Diaz has a black belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and trains martial arts since he was a teenager. His older brother, Nick introduced him to the MMA world. He is one of the UFC stars before Nate. Even though Nate has been competing in MMA for a long time, his boxing skills are no joke as well.
During the whole UFC career, Nate Diaz has been training with a boxing trainer for improving his striking. His boxing skills are on a high level and we can see this in his striking force. It won’t be a wonder if he just jumps straight into boxing.
On the other side, the public is criticizing Jake Paul for not fighting professional boxers. All his previous opponents come from other combat sports, mostly MMA. The boxing audience is asking Jake Paul to take on a professional boxer so he can prove himself. Will choosing Nate Diaz next help him with improving his reputation? Many argue that it won’t.
What do you think? Would Nate Diaz make a good opponent for Jake Paul?
