AEW Dynamite rages on after that opening match! JR having a sit-down interview with Santana, filmed earlier. Santana explains that 15 years ago he was flat broke, had no direction, living in a broken down apartment in the Bronx. One day he decided he couldn’t take it anymore. Claims Jon built his own coffin and tonight, he promises, he’ll know what it’s like to be in the dark. Dustin Rhodes and Sammy Guevara are about to meet but first, a video from Darby Allin.
Since he can’t speak he nicks Sammy’s sign gimmick, warning that smashing his throat was a big mistake and he’ll get him back for it. Asks Sammy if he’s busy at Revolution. Closes with a sign requesting he hit him up, and shows a little image of Sammy claiming that kissing Jericho’s ass gave him herpes.
Dustin Rhodes vs. Sammy Guevara
Dustin charges at the bell but Sammy bails and gets some words from Jake Hager who is at ringside. Sammy tries to charge from behind as Jake distracts Dustin but he saw it coming, turned and laid him out with a clothesline! Running knee lift to the face, cover for 2! Sammy bails again, tries to stall but Dustin flies off the steps for a flying clothesline! Gets in Hager’s face and makes a Longhorn gesture in front of the Sooner graduate! Quite an easy pop here in Austin, TX. Commercial break as the match continues in the inset. Guevara gets Dustin with a flying clothesline off the apron and slips into the ring to try and get a countout.
Dustin eventually gets into the ring before the break, Sammy repeatedly attempts to pin him to no avail. Dustin stands as the crowd chants his name, Sammy with a springboard but is caught out of the air with a flatliner! Crowd applauds and wills Dustin to stand, catches a blow and nails him! Lands a series of punches! Sammy reverses a whip but Dustin gets him with his uppercut from the knees! Charges, Sammy gets a boot up in the corner, charges but Rhodes with a Snap Powerslam! Dustin going up top but Hager steps up to distract him! Guevara takes Dustin off the top rope with a Torture Rack into a GTS for a nearfall!
Hager is going nuts over that kickout. Guevara goes up top but he takes too long, Dustin knocks him down, back body drop takes him to the mat! Dustin stands, but Guevara charges and leaps to the top rope! Dustin hooks him though and gets an Inverted Superplex to send him to the mat! Leaps for the Canadian Destroyer, Panama Sunrise-style! Final Reckoning follows and Dustin gets the pin!

Good match! Very solid TV match and the crowd sure did love Dustin, nice to see him get a win in front of what’s basically his hometown. Afterwards, Dustin gets on the mic and demands Hager turn around, calling him Jericho’s bitch! And the crowd swiftly chants that! Dustin asks if he’ll ever step in the ring or if he’s just gonna keep collecting a paycheck! Says he’s failing at an MMA career and he’s failing here before his career has even started! He broke his arm and he wants his revenge at Revolution!
Demands he gets in the ring and accept his challenge! Asks the crowd if they wanna see it and they’re happy to affirm! Sammy trying to keep Hager from walking down the ramp, eventually gets him to turn and walk away to big jeers.
