We’re just a few days away from AEW entering one of their biggest set of shows in 2022. AEW Grand Slam comes next week, and following that – we’re on the road to Full Gear. This PPV will take place from the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. It’s a welcome break from Chicago after Forbidden Door & All Out – and AEW Revolution will be even further away, going all the way to the west coast.
AEW Looking To Hold Revolution 2023 In The Cow Palace
The current tentative venue for AEW Revolution 2023 is set to be The Cow Palace in Daly City, California. It’s a venue AEW has never run – with west coast shows in general getting rare. We already have confirmation of AEW running a show in Seattle on January 4th, 2023 – another west coast event for the company.
The Cow Palace is a historic venue for professional wrestling, dating back to the 1960’s. There hasn’t been a show held there since the NJPW G1 Special In San Francisco back in 2018 – making this a welcome return. That event would be main evented by Kenny Omega defending the IWGP Heavyweight Championship against Cody Rhodes. WWE previously ran it for PPV’s, notable No Way Out 2004 – where Eddie Guerrero won the WWE Heavyweight Championship from Brock Lesnar.
Running More Shows Outside Of Their Usual Haunts
AEW has fans all around the world, so branching out to new venues for PPV and TV tapings is a great move. They’re making their Canadian debut very soon, and we’ve heard chatter about shows in the UK & Japan as well. Links with NJPW will make a Japan debut possible – with Konosuke Takeshita having that as a personal goal of his in AEW.
AEW is likely to stick to Chicago & Jacksonville as home bases for their shows, knowing these are safe markets – but as their influence grows, so will the locations they broadcast shows from.
