Last night on AEW Rampage, we got to see Danhausen wrestle once again. It was a short match like expected, with Ethan Page claiming the victory. Since arriving in AEW, and during his time in Ring of Honor – Danhausen has become more about his character than his wrestling, and even his character was tuned to be more comedic. While this has worked for now, it might be time for him to show what got him to the big stages – and Danhausen seems to be indicating that changes are coming.
Danhausen Is No Longer Fulfilled With Being A Joke
Following his quick defeat to Ethan Page, Danhausen would take to Twitter to post the following lyrics from Unclean Spirit by Code Orange – and also tagging AEW.
“My body is conscious. My spirit is unclean. I am no longer fulfilled. Satisfy me.”
Without the tag to AEW, it could be as simple as posting some lyrics on the mind. However, Danhausen doesn’t do things without reason on social media. He’s a master of social media, having used it to snag a deal with AEW and get on TV – and always knows what he’s doing.
Following this, a highlight reel from 2019 set to Bleeding In The Blurby Code Orange would be shared more – showing more of the in-ring skills of Danhausen, and glimpses of the darker character he once was. You can watch the highlight reel here.
Time To Be Very Evil (But Sometimes Very Nice)
Going 100% into a darker character might not be the best route for Danhausen however. His fanbase is rather split on those who enjoy is comedy antics, and those who want to see him actually wrestle. His catchphrase of ‘Very Nice. Very Evil’ needs to be taken into the ring. There are two sides of Danhausen, and enough room for both in the ring.
Just like how there was the Faces of Foley, or alter egos like Kishin Liger with Jushin Liger and The Demon with Finn Balor? Danhausen could bring both sides of his personality to AEW. Having him be the silly man slinging curses at times, but if you get on his bad side? He’s going to hurt you.
