The West Alabama Narcotics Task Force raided a Tuscaloosa apartment and arrested a couple who were sitting on two pounds of marijuana and $18,000 in cash.
The Tuscaloosa Thread reports that the seizure went down on September 14, 2022 on Mimosa Park Road during a search warrant for Jacolby Smith (22).
Alabama Couple Arrested with 2 Pounds of Marijuana and $18K in Cash During Warrant Search
Smith has an outstanding warrant for drug distribution but that wasn’t enough to make him distance himself from drugs or at least lay low and not arouse suspicion.
Law enforcement turned up “a clear, large bag containing marijuana, as well as rolling trays with loose marijuana on them” according to the Task Force. That was found on just a sweep of the bedroom.
After really searching the house, authorities turned up a little over two pounds of marijuana that were either packed, loose, or rolled into blunts.
Elsewhere they found a vacuum sealer, a bong, and a grinder—all with residue in them, a firearm, and $17,754 in cash in a shoe box and in a dresser.
Jacolby Smith and Ireunna Harris (22) were charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, felony trafficking, and tax stamp violation. The last charge comes from the possession of medical marijuana in Alabama requiring a tax stamp.
Both were booked into the Tuscaloosa County Jail and have their bond set at $521,000 each.
