On September 6, 2022 in Alabama man was charged with multiple counts of possession and distributing child pornography in Tuscaloosa. Patrick Oaks (37) was arrested and later hit with ten felony charges after a tip on social media piqued authorities’ interest in his online activity.
Alabama Man SLAPPED with 10 Felony Charges for Child Pornography
The tip was sent to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children back in April 2022. According to Tuscaloosa Thread, a concerned user on an unidentified social network tossed the tip to the NCMEC after receiving a message that would’ve been of interest to the organization.
The tip targeted an IP address in Tuscaloosa and involved being sent a private message two months earlier that was attached with pictures showing the sexual abuse of minors.
This tip would quickly make its way to the West Alabama Human Trafficking Task Force and an investigation was launched.
That is how Patrick Oaks’ name popped up. With enough evidence to move on, the Task Force arrived at Oaks’ house on August 25, 2022. The suspect folded and admitted to sending child pornography to others on the platform.
Patrick Oaks was arrested and hit with eight counts of possession of obscene matter depicting persons under 17 years of age as well as two counts of disseminating said content.
Basically, Oaks got eight charges for having child porn and two counts of sharing it. The 37-year-old was released from the Tuscaloosa County Jail on a $180,000 bond.
