Recently, we’ve seen one of the factions of AEW dealt a fatal blow. Malakai Black would ask for, and was granted his release from the company – with his final match coming at All Out, in a six man tag team match against Sting, Darby Allin & Miro. Now after Grand Slam – Buddy Matthews is also looking for a break from in-ring action.
Buddy Matthews To Take A Break From Professional Wrestling
Following a Fight Life Pro Wrestling show, Buddy Matthews would get a standing ovation from the crowd. He’d respond with the following – revealing news of a break from the ring.
“I appreciate that. Unfortunately, tonight, I’m going to be the bearer of some unfortunate news. As everyone knows, the House of Black has had some issues lately. As all the members of the house, I’m speaking for them all, we want to thank you all for being members of the house. Unfortunately, I, like some of the other members, need to go away for a while. I need to recalibrate. I need to figure out some things. As my brother Malakai once said, this isn’t goodbye, this is see you later.”
As of the time of writing, there has been no indication that Matthews has requested his release from AEW like Black has.
Brody King To Break Out As Singles Star
This leaves House of Black as just Brody King & Julia Hart. While there is potential of the faction just being scrapped, King is potentially set to now be the breakout star of the group. He’s already been stealing shows in AEW, having challenged for the AEW World Championship over the summer – and a few headline matches against Darby Allin.
Julia Hart could also have some potential in the coming months, especially as the AEW women’s division continues to rise with the debut of Saraya. Hart is one of the fastest improving names in the company, and a potential name to take the TBS Championship away from Jade Cargill.
We will hopefully see more on the future of House Of Black in the coming weeks. Is this faction doomed? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
