The memoir had already been given the go ahead, but the passing of Queen Elizabeth II may now have caused the Duke of Sussex to reconsider some parts of it.
And as part of that process, it seems that Harry recognises he may not be able to release what he had done previously for fear of further backlash that could emerge from the nation.
There were initial question marks over whether or not the memoir would be scrapped. But with this being unlikely, a more toned-down version could be the next best thing.
A source said the following: “Harry has thrown a spanner in the works…There may be things in the book which might not look so good if they come out so soon after these events.
“He wants sections changed now. It’s not a total rewrite by any means. He desperately wants to make changes. But it might be too late.”
This is entirely understandable for the following reasons. First of all, Harry made it clear that the memoir was going to be an unfiltered account of his life since he was no longer at the behest of the royals.
Therefore, there was an expectation that he would reveal some controversial elements since the point of the project was to sell the memoir. Secondly, there may be restrictions over how much Harry can keep out as he does have a lucrative contract to fulfil.
The fans on social media recognised that Harry was now in a difficult position. And yet, it was merely of his own doing since he could have chosen not to go ahead with this project in the first place. One person wrote: “Trying to save his a&&!”
