Last week at AEW Grand Slam, MJF would basically get the week off. He’d interrupt promo time given to Wheeler Yuta, before watching Bryan Danielson & Jon Moxley take years off their careers in a hard hitting main event match over the AEW World Champion. Beating each other up for the right to challenge MJF, who is the #1 contender – and just has to name the date of his title shot. Knowing that Jon Moxley is in his future, MJF will speak tonight.
Wheeler Yuta Wants MJF To Shut Up And Fight
Yuta would hit the ring instead, and would have a bone to pick. MJF had W. Morrissey attack him from behind, and punched him in the face with that Dynamite Diamond Ring. However – it was the shoving of Tony Schiavone that was the worst part. Now, Yuta wants MJF to fight him in his city – but we all know MJF loves to run and hide. Skip the talking, and take the ass kicking he’s deserved.
MJF would call everyone in the arena a coward except Wheeler Yuta. They’ve come up in the industry together, and there is no doubt Yuta is an excellent wrestler… but he tried to meet him in a promo. MJF outclasses him on the microphone, is better than anyone in the arena – and they know it. Yuta doesn’t care about that. If he doesn’t want to man up and meet Yuta in the ring, he’ll leave him in a pool of blood on Broad Street.
After saying that bad things happen in Philadelphia, and Yuta would look to take MJF down. The Gunn Club would make the save, once again proving his coward status. He’d decline a match this week, instead setting things up for next week.
Juice Robinson Tries To Get A Cheap Shot
Jon Moxley is once again the AEW World Champion, having defeated fellow Blackpool Combat Club member Bryan Danielson last week. Already he knows Hangman Page & MJF will be challengers, and a third could enter that conversation here tonight. Juice Robinson is a man with a victory over Moxley this year, getting the win in a Fatal Four Way at NJPW Capital Collision, and tonight could win a chance at becoming the AEW World Championship.
Robinson would attack Moxley during his entrance, shoving him into the barricade when he wasn’t ready. He’d use that Rock Hard head for some headbutts, before dumping him into the ring. Moxley would be able to find his footing and nail a lariat, and threw Robinson over the timekeeper’s table. In the ring, Moxley would hit some hard strikes, before Robinson grabbed his ears and bit Moxley.
On the floor, Robinson would once again drive Moxley into the barricade – before hitting a cannonball senton. Moxley was bleeding, and Robinson would target that wound in the ring by biting it. Back in their first NJPW meeting, Moxley was the one doing the biting – so all’s fair in love and war. Headbutts would follow, before Robinson came off the apron with a cannonball – and missed.
Jon Moxley Wins – Wheeler Yuta Isn’t Waiting
Moxley would follow up with a suicide dive, and kept the pressure on in the ring by hitting a lariat. Robinson tried to stand tall, but was caught in a cutter for a near fall. Moxley moved right into an ankle lock – with Robinson fighting free before a powerbomb for a two count. Pulp Friction would land, but Moxley somehow kicked out. Rock Slide was blocked, and the Regal Knee would follow before a cross armbreaker for the win.
After the match – Hangman Page would hit the ring after winning a Battle Royale at Grand Slam. He’s next in line for a shot if MJF doesn’t step in, meeting Moxley soon in Cincinnati. They’d get ready to fight and MJF would tell them to settle down. He’d say they’re fighting to lose, as MJF might just cash that chip in and take the belt.
Yuta would sneak up on MJF in the skybox, not waiting until next week to punch him in the face – and would throw him out into the crowd. In the ring, Page & Moxley had locked eyes and refused to give in – while MJF would whine about being taken by surprise.
