Adam Cole has been one of, if not the best NXT Champion of all time. His resume of victories only gets longer, and he has taken the belt to new heights with defenses on RAW, Smackdown and Survivor Series. He notched another win last night when he managed to defeat Tommaso Ciampa. This came after Johnny Gargano would attack Tommaso Ciampa, meaning that neither will be looking to get a shot at Adam Cole anytime soon. This leaves the role of challenger very open, with many people who can fill it. Who Will Face Adam Cole At NXT Takeover Tampa?
Velveteen Dream
Having recently returned from injury with a laser focus on Undisputed Era member Roderick Strong, Dream could very well target Cole next. A wrestling prodigy, Velveteen Dream has come close in the past to becoming NXT Champion. While Roderick Strong is his main target due to him taking the NXT North American Championship away from Dream, it won’t take much for Dream to vanquish him and move onto bigger things. He has the star power to main event a huge NXT Takeover event, and would steal the show alongside someone like Adam Cole.
Keith Lee
Arguably the most popular wrestler in NXT at the moment, the NXT North American Champion has more than one shoulder to drape a belt over. Many assumed he was ready for big things before he became NXT North American Champion, and that seems to be the case. With Undisputed Era losing all but the NXT Championship, Lee could goad Cole into putting the NXT Championship on the line in a ‘Winner Takes All’ scenario. It is something that has never been done before in NXT, and would be a refreshing idea to see come into play. Fans would love for the first dual champion in NXT to be Keith Lee, as it gives even more reason to bask in his glory.
Finn Balor
Having been victorious over Johnny Gargano at NXT Takeover Portland, Finn Balor will be in the talks for number one contender. While Adam Cole has beaten Balor, it was because Johnny Gargano got involved in the match. With his old rival busy with Tommaso Ciampa, Balor is free to face Adam Cole without distraction or more interference than usual. Having a new killer edge to him, Balor is not the same man who held the NXT Championship for 292 days, he is better than that man. He is one of the biggest possible threats to Adam Cole,
