In Saskatoon, a preliminary hearing was held for drug traffickers who were nabbed during Project Octane. The drug busting operation took place throughout 2021 with warrants going out that April.
The six alleged traffickers were arrested at several listed residences on College Drive, 5the Avenue North, Willis Crescent, Fast Crescent, and 2nd Avenue South. In total, six vehicles, less than 167 grams of fentanyl, 4,177 grams of coke, less than 570 grams of marijuana, and 67 grams of meth were seized.
Authorities also took over $226,000 in cash.
Six Saskatoon Drug Traffickers Given Charges in the Aftermath of 2021 Project Octane Busts
It was a massive haul for the Saskatoon Police Service’s Drug Unit and Integrated Crime Reduction Team as well as the Calgary Police’s Guns and Gang Unit. The six arrested Included Rajandeer Singh (29), Rachel Kidd (29), Ali Sarfraz (27), Andrew Karamat (24), Gurkeert Hehar (22), and Japjee Minhas (21).
All six were charged with conspiracy to commit trafficking of meth and coke, trafficking coke and meth, possession for the purpose of trafficking coke, fentanyl, and meth, commission of an offense for the benefit of a criminal organization, and possession of proceeds of a crime over $5,000.
In addition, Japjee Minhas was charged with directing an offense for a criminal organization while Kidd received a charge for possession of coke with the intent to traffic.
Charges were read on September 28, 2022 but another court appearance Is scheduled for October 11.
