For years, MJF & Wheeler Yuta would work alongside each other on the indies – before both would find their ways into AEW. Yuta has only started to rise in 2022, having joined the Blackpool Combat Club and really found his confidence. This led to Yuta standing up for himself and his faction when MJF would trash them at Grand Slam, and to him threatening to leave MJF in a pool of his own blood last week. Tonight, they meet in singles action – which will be MJF’s first singles match since his loss to Wardlow earlier this year at Double or Nothing.

Wheeler Yuta Pushes MJF To His Limits

MJF would be able to shove Yuta into the corner as the match began, only for Yuta to turn things around. He’d be thrown across the ring, but popped out of the corner and hit some armdrags before hitting the Painthriller. Yuta would head to the top rope, but MJF would roll to safety.

MJF would be able to grab a chinlock on the mat, with Yuta able to fight free. Slowing the pace down, MJF would hit a big back body drop – before a hammer throw into the corner. Yuta would be able to hit some forearm smashes, before looking for the German Suplex. MJF initially blocked with a back elbow, before taking a trio of suplexes ending with a bridge for a one count.

Yuta would maintain waist control, before MJF would go after the arm with a stomp to the elbow. MJF would catch a hurricanrana into a powerbomb to the knee – before both men traded pin attempts on the mat. Yuta would almost be dropped with a tombstone, but was able to counter and get a near fall.

MJF Was Ready To Show Respect?

A double lariat attempt would leave both men laying, and staring up at the lights. Yuta would roll to the apron, and was able to hit a kick to the face. He’d go to the top rope, and MJF would catch him and look for a super tombstone. Yuta clapped his feet on the ears of MJF, before a Frankensteiner sent MJF flying.

MJF would roll from the ring, and Yuta kept the pressure on with a huge dive down to the floor. Back in the ring, Yuta flew across the ring for a splash. MJF would block the Seatbelt Clutch and apply Salt of the Earth – forcing Yuta to tap out for the victory.

After the bell, Yuta would offer a handshake – respecting the efforts of MJF tonight. MJF was about to accept, but Yuta was blindsided by Lee Moriarty. This had MJF caught off guard, but before more damage could be done – William Regal put his brass knuckles on and sent Moriarty running.

    Jay Lethal Targets The Knee

Darby Allin is now in the sights of Jay Lethal, after a fantastic match at Grand Slam. Lethal knows Allin is in a major spot in AEW, but is also broken and beaten after being tossed off the stage by Brody King. This is a chance for Lethal to try and rise above his current placement in AEW – but a loss to an injured Allin would just drag him down. Add in Allin having the home state advantage – and he’s extra motivated tonight.

Allin would apply a headlock to start, with Lethal countering into an armbar. Lethal sent Allin from the ring, but Allin didn’t remain outside. He’d rush back into the ring, and we came to a stalemate. Lethal was able to hit a dropkick to the knee, and now had a limb targetted for that Figure Four.

Allin would play opossum to lure Lethal into a front choke, with Lethal trying to counter into a suplex – and being hit with the Scorpion Deathdrop. Lethal would be able to keep on the offensive with some big elbow drops to the knee, before shutting him down with a lariat.

Allin was taken into a corner before being hit with the kneebreaker into the Dragon Screw. Lethal would block a kick from Allin and stomp the knee again before launching him with a German Suplex. Avalanche Dragon Screw would be followed by the Figure Four Leg Lock in the middle of the ring.

Allin was able to survive and get the bottom rope, and blocked Lethal Injection. Code Red would get a two count, with Satnam Singh & Sonjay Dutt coming out – and distracting Lethal. Both men would trade pin attempts. Last Supper from Allin would get the win. After the match, Allin & Lethal shook hands.
