After the unsuccessful attempt of proposing terms for ending the war in Ukraine, Elon Musk turned to Taiwan, to propose a solution for their conflict with China. Ever since the billionaire agreed on proceeding with the Twitter deal and ‘solved’ that matter, he is on a streak to propose solutions to all world problems.
“My recommendation…would be to figure out a special administrative zone for Taiwan that is reasonably palatable, probably won’t make everyone happy.” – Elon Musk told the Financial Times in a recent interview.
After ‘Solving’ The Ukrainian Situation, Elon Musk Pledges To Resolve China-Taiwan Conflict
He made the proposal when asked about his opinion of China and its politics. As he already invested ‘big money’ and opened a huge Tesla factory in Shanghai, Elon Musk seems to be taking China’s side when their politics are in question. The reason for that might be very simple – his interest in continuing his work in China is huge.
China doesn’t see Taiwan as a sovereign country. They see the island as a part of China, and China’s leadership has long ago promised to its people to take back their ‘estranged land’. Of course, they wouldn’t exclude the possibility of taking over the island by force.
Taiwan and Taiwanese people see this completely differently though. Taiwan’s government has already pledged to remain firm on its future views and not fall under China’s boots evermore. According to the Taiwanese government, the only one that can decide what will Taiwan’s future look like.
“And it’s possible, and I think probably, in fact, that they could have an arrangement that’s more lenient than Hong Kong.” – Elon Musk continued expressing his controversial views.
The importance of Shanghai’s Tesla factory is massive for the Tesla company. According to Musk himself, the Shanghai fraction is responsible for nearly half the revenue of Tesla last year.
To please the Chinese government, several years ago, Elon Musk agreed and signed an agreement that SpaceX and Starlink wouldn’t ‘expand’ to the East.
Elon Musk expressed his concerns about a potential conflict between the two countries. According to him, such outcome would completely destroy the global economy. Yes, Tesla and Apple would be the first companies to actually experience a massive backlash after a possible conflict.
A couple of days ago, the ‘impulsive Twitter user’ Elon Musk made a very bold claim. He pledged to solve the Ukrainian problem. His statement was so distasteful that even the country’s president, Volodymyr Zelenski decided to reply to him.
Elon Musk’s post on Ukraine’s war was a Twitter poll where he asked people to vote. The question at hand – if Ukraine should ‘gift’ the occupied territories to Russia, or continue the war. The question was better formulated, however, the essence was such.
With his tweet, Elon Musk provoked both the Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenski to acknowledge and reply to it.
“Which Elon Musk do you like more?” – Volodymyr Zelenski replied with another poll. “One who supports Ukraine” – was the first option, and – “One who supports Russia” – was the second. This poll had almost unanimous votes. The majority of the choices were against the Russia-supporting billionaire.
Since Elon Musk didn’t manage to get Ukraine and Russia to accept his proposal, he went to Taiwan. What do you think, could Taiwan accept his proposal?
