Elon Musk looks much different today from what he looked like couple of months ago. He is fitter, slimmer and looks healthier overall. Being asked on Twitter about his regime, the billionaire reveals that he is not ‘all natural’. He is using a diabetes drug that helps him lose weight.
As you’d expect from a billionaire, the drug he uses is not a cheap one. It costs around $900 monthly and until now it showed to be extremely effective. The drug is based on the active ingredient semaglutide and the exact variation of the drug that Elon Musk confessed on taking is manufactured by the Danish pharmaceutical giant Novo Nordisk.
Elon Musk Is On A Getting Fit Regime – The Billionaire Confessed To Using a Diabetes Drug To Get ‘Ripped’
When you think about Elon Musk, the last thing that would pop in your mind is fitness, or diet. However, even though the 51 year old Tesla CEO is in the news quite oftenly for his involvement in numerous controversies, now the reason is quite different. Now, he puts the limelight on himself once more for a much different reason.
According to a Twitter user, Eva McMillan, obviously a Musk fan with a username EvaTeslaSPlaid, asked him the ‘secret’ behind his improved looks. Eva presumed that his slim look is due to training and eating healthy. However, the answer is much different.
“Hey, Elon Musk, what’s your secret? You look awesome, fit, ripped & healthy. Lifting weights? Eating healthy?” – Eva tweeted with hopes of a reply.
“Fasting” – The billionaire replied. “And Wegovy” – he added, referring to the diabetes drug.
Wegovy is a diabetes drug that is injected once a week to manage diabetes. At least that is its main purpose. Back in 2021, the US Food and Drug Administration allowed prescribing the drug for helping people with chronic weight problems. Wegovy works by suppressing appetite and delaying digestion. Much like insulin, the drug regulates the digestion and balances hunger hormones that report to your brain if you need food.
Using Wegovy, Elon Musk is able to lose up to 20% of his body mass for little above a year. And he is not the only celebrity using it. Reports state that everybody from Kim Kardashian to Brad Pitt take the drug to enhance their physique by looking slimmer. In fact, Kim Kardashian confessed on using the drug for a short period when she lost about 7% of body fat in just couple of weeks.
“From our standpoint, we don’t promote or suggest or encourage any off-label usage at all.” – Dr Jason Brett, an executive director of medical affairs at Novo says. “We’re not looking at weight loss for cosmetic purposes or episodic weight loss for people who don’t fit those criteria from the FDA-approved label indications.”
According to reports, there is a sudden shortage of the drug countrywide. As people started buying and using the drug for losing weight, many people with diabetes remained unable to access it.
