Ring Of Honor are having to spend 2020 rehabbing their image. ROH is a company that lacks identity in the modern wrestling world, having a decent roster who can be on great shows that very few people watch. While they are proving to be like Impact Wrestling in that they are unable to die, they need to keep making smart choices or they risk losing any relevancy. In an interview with Wrestling Inc, the current ROH Champion PCO spoke on how he would like to see the company fix this issue.
PCO Speaks On Live Weekly TV
When it comes to wrestling, there are two ways to handle things. You can have live TV events and PPV’s on a consistent basis like WWE & AEW, or run shows and share them on a streaming service with an option to watch live like with NJPW. The key is to run it live, as that draws in the most viewers. Ring Of Honor has been trying to do the second one, with their poorly advertised Honor Club service. PCO feels that switching to the WWE approach would be the best for them at this time.
“Absolutely, I think that’s the way to go and we have the resources to do it. We’ve got it there so it’s just a matter of placing things right and doing things right,” PCO said. “We have the capacity to have a live show on a good TV station which is something that they own. With HonorClub, every show we’re doing is basically a PPV. So, all of the production team is ready for a move like that. It’s going to be really interesting.”
They have the ability, they have the roster, and with Sinclair Broadcasting being their parent company, they just need to find a good time slot. This would be the major move that could help them compete in the current era of wrestling. While they do have a weekly show, it airs at random hours and is often many weeks behind on storylines. The best place to catch it is on Fite TV, where episodes are uploaded for free.
