At NXT Takeover Portland we saw Charlotte Flair finally choose who she will challenge at Wrestlemania. After weeks of teasing, she would finally choose the NXT Women’s Champion Rhea Ripley. This came in the form of an attack on Ripley, who had just defeated Bianca Belair to retain her championship.
While Bianca is not scheduled to be involved in the match at Wrestlemania, she is involved in this storyline. She has been part of it since Charlotte came to NXT and showed her disrespect. This will finally come to blow this week on NXT, in what will be the first time WWE fans have seen Charlotte compete in an NXT ring since 2015.
Charlotte Flair Last Match In NXT
Before this Wednesday, the last NXT showing of Charlotte Flair came in the form of a Fatal Four Way match back in August of 2015. She would compete alongside Becky Lynch, Dana Brooke and the winner of the match in Emma. Charlotte and Becky Lynch had already shown up on Smackdown, forming the PCB faction (originally known as Submission Sorietity) alongside Paige. Charlotte would soon go on to capture the Diva’s Championship from Nikki Bella at Night of Champions, and would hold the title until it was rebranded as the WWE Women’s Championship.
Can Bianca Belair Play Spoiler?
With Bianca Belair getting a shot at The Queen, this match means more than you would intially think. It is possibly the biggest of Belairs career, as a victory over Charlotte could give her some leverage in being added to the match at Wrestlemania. She has proven she can take Rhea Ripley to the limit, and is one major victory away from being a star. This Wednesday could be that crucial victory for Belair.
Ripley has been pretty clear she doesn’t mind if Belair gets added, as she knows she can easily beat her. She’s done it once, and she can do it again at Wrestlemania. If anything, it works to Rheas advantage as she wouldn’t have to worry about needing to pin Charlotte to retain. That said, it is a double edged sword as Rhea could lose her title without being beaten.
This upcoming match holds massive stakes for the future of this ongoing feud, making this weeks NXT have atleast one must see matchup. Will you be watching, and do you think Belair can pull off the major upset? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
