During WWE NXT Halloween Havoc 2022, we’d see a vignette revealing the future of the last member of Retribution to maintain their name. T-Bar has been used sparingly in 2022, mainly working on Main Event in solid but overlooked matches. Alongside Maximum Male Models ma.ce, T-Bar tried his best to make the ill-fated Retribution stable work, but that ship has long since sunk. Now, he’s back in NXT – and is going back to a name longtime fans of T-Bar and Ring of Honor will recognize.
T-Bar Goes Back To Original Ring Name of Donovan Dijak
Right now, T-Bar’s name is listed as Donovan Dijak on the internal WWE roster. This is a ring name he has not used since PWG Battle of Los Angeles 2017, his final date prior to signing with WWE. That was the same night as his now famous five star match with Keith Lee, something we’d see in NXT when Dijak would take the ring name Dominik Dijakovic.
Now, we’ve gone full circle – as Dijak is set to have his career re-invigorated on the NXT brand. During his last time there, he would challenge unsuccessfully for all three eligible titles, with fans hoping that won’t be the same story this time around. Shawn Michaels claimed during the post Halloween Havoc media scrum that NXT’s team has been pushing to get Dijak back on their roster since his call up in 2020 failed.
It’s very possible this name change is due to the rise of Dominik Mysterio in WWE, and WWE wanting to avoid any possible confusion between the son of Rey Mysterio and the 6’7” Dijak. It works out in the end, with the news of this name change putting a lot of hope in the minds of fans that Dijak will finally get a run fitting of his skill set in WWE.
We saw glimmers of this when he feuded with Damien Priest over the WWE United States Championship, but that was never expanded on. There’s a good chance he re-debuts on tonight’s episode of WWE NXT, with current NXT Champion Bron Breakker set to look for a new challenger.
