Ricky Starks has been absent from AEW since his Lights Out victory over Powerhouse Hobbs, but tonight he’s back. Starks has some promo time tonight on a live episode of AEW Rampage, and with the AEW World Championship Eliminator Tournament set to begin – it just might be time for Starks to break out as a main event star in AEW.
Ricky Starks Plans On Winning AEW World Championship Eliminator Tournament
Starks would get the expected big reaction from the crowd in Atlantic City – with AEW fans around the world glad to see him back on TV. He’s heard everyone wanting him back on TV, and said he never had to beg the fans to get behind him, because people just like him. Starks has put the work in and he is entering the AEW World Championship Eliminator Tournament.
He is ready to win this tournament, and win the AEW World Championship. There are some people who are proud to be pillars of the company while it crumbles, and Starks is ready to hold the company up on his bare back. Don’t let his fashion choices get you twisted, he will walk into Full Gear and leave as number one contender.
Jon Moxley has given his blood for the company, but what happens if the blood dries up. MJF claims to be a generational talent, but Starks is an absolute talent. It doesn’t matter who walks out as champion, as Starks will take either down and take his rightful spot at the helm of the company.
The other five names set to join Ethan Page, Dante Martin & Ricky Starks in the tournament are Eddie Kingston, Lance Archer, RUSH, Bandido, and Brian Cage. Kingston & Page kick the tournament off next week on Dynamite, and Starks has his first opponent in the form of Archer. That’s next week on Rampage, alongside Bandido vs. RUSH & Martin vs. Cage.
Gates Of Agony Manage To Isolate Samoa Joe
For weeks now, we’ve seen The Embassy continue to attack Wardlow & Samoa Joe following title defences, with WarJoe seemingly always getting the upper hand in the end. Tonight, Gates of Agony will finally step up to Wardlow & Samoa Joe in tag team action, on a live episode of AEW Rampage. It’s a proper heavyweight tag team clash – with some serious power on both sides.
Kaun would start with Wardlow, trying to use his speed – but getting caught and bull rushed into the corner. Wardlow would take a lariat, and come back with one twice as hard. Toa & Joe would hit the ring next, the two powerhouses for their teams – with Joe jabbing Toa into the corner with a flurry of hard strikes.
Joe would take some knee strikes to the midsection, before coming back with the fast enziguri. Gates of Agony would start to isolate Joe in their corner, with Kaun choking Joe on the ropes. Toa would hit some heavy strikes, with Wardlow almost distracted on the apron – scanning the crowd for signs of Powerhouse Hobbs.
Wardlow Wants Powerhouse Hobbs
The shoulder of Joe would be yanked on by Toa, before he’d rise and nail some heavy handed chops to the chest. Toa was thrown into the corner, and would explode back out with a tackle. Rear chinlock would be applied, and Joe fought free only to take a dropkick from Kaun.
Uranage in the corner would plant Kaun, before Wardlow got the tag. A series of German Suplexs would follow, with Toa taking one as well. Kaun would be planted with a spinebuster, with Toa saving the match as he broke up the pinfall. Joe would take Toa out, and Wardlow hit the wind up lariat.
Kaun would be hit with four powerbombs, and this one was over – Wardlow pinning him with his boot. The Embassy might want to pick different targets, as Hobbs is a clear focus on Wardlow now.
