Jay Lethal was able to scrape past Darby Allin last week, needing the help of Cole Karter and later Jeff Jarrett to defeat the former TNT Champion. This week, he’s in singles action once again – as he goes one on one with Best Friends Trent Beretta. With Chuck Taylor, Danhausen and the AEW All-Atlantic Champion Orange Cassidy never far away – Beretta won’t be caught by sneak attacks, meaning Lethal needs to try and win this one honestly.
Jay Lethal Targets The Leg, Takes Down Trent Beretta
Lethal would attack Trent from behind, hitting the chop block as he was coming down the ramp. Trent would fire back with some strikes, before being sent over the steps. Sonjay Dutt & Satnam Singh would make their way to ringside as Trent was rolled into the ring. He’d try to use the ropes to find his footing, only to have it kicked out from underneath.
Trent would manage to catch Lethal with a backdrop driver, only to take a knee breaker into a Dragon Screw. Chuck Taylor & Danhausen would come to ringside to assist Trent, while Lethal came out to the floor to apply the Figure Four Leg Lock. Trent was able to work his way out of the hold, but was dropped with a lariat.
Back in the ring, Lethal would press the advantage – hitting the Lethal Combination. Trent would manage to catch Lethal would some quick strikes before a German Suplex. He’d maintain the grip, switching to the Half & Half Suplex for the second. Lethal would be hit with a lariat in the corner – but the Swinging DDT was blocked.
Trent would avoid an attempt at the Figure Four, kicking Lethal face first into the corner and following up with a successful Swinging DDT. Lethal would be hit with the running knee strike, and set up the Strong Zero. Dutt & Singh would run a distraction, and this was enough for Lethal to set up and hit the Lethal Injection however, ending this match.
After the match, Jeff Jarrett would come out and explain his links to Lethal & Dutt, having signed Lethal to his first contract and ran with Dutt for years. Singh is a legit giant meanwhile, and why wouldn’t Jarrett want to work with him. He’d call out Sting & Allin for Full Gear.
Jon Moxley Wants MJF To Step Up And Prove Himself At Full Gear
Jon Moxley has not taken his foot off the gas since becoming the AEW World Champion for the third time back in September. He knows he will meet MJF at Full Gear, but has wrestled Penta El Zero Miedo, Matt Menard and Lee Moriarty recently all the same.
With William Regal by his side, he’d start by asking how old he was when they first met. He was about 26, and thought he knew it all. Moxley wanted to be a real top guy, and he picked a fight with Regal – and it did not go well. Regal tortured him and it drove Moxley to get better. When they met again, Moxley knocked him out – and from that moment, the real work began.
That 26 year old kid reminds them both of MJF, and even back in summer of 2020 he thought he could take Moxley down. Moxley tortured him, and now – MJF is coming back for another shot. Who exactly is MJF in 2022? He walks around like someone rich and successful, talks like a world champion. However, Moxley is a multi-millionaire and well defined world champion. MJF calls himself a pillar, yet has never felt weight on his back. He calls himself The Devil, but Moxley has met the Devil – looked him in the eyes. Moxley has been dark places and done some dark things – and MJF is not that.
