Last night was another solid episode of AEW Dynamite, and after it went off the air – fans in the arena got more action. AEW Rampage is not going to be live this week, which gives us a better idea at what to fully expect from the show. There were four matches announced for the show – but one did not end up coming together.
Lance Archer vs. Ricky Starks Delayed Until AEW Dynamite
Originally, we were supposed to see the next three first round matches in the AEW World Championship Eliminator tournament as part of AEW Rampage, but we would only see two matches happen. RUSH vs. Bandido and Brian Cage vs. Dante Martin would go on as planned, alongside a defence of the AEW All Atlantic Championship with Orange Cassidy vs. Lee Johnson.
This puts Lance Archer vs. Ricky Starks on the upcoming episode of AEW Dynamite instead. We seen an angle on AEW Dynamite where Archer would beat Starks down – likely leading to the match being delayed. However, this might only make the chances of Starks in the finals even stronger.
Three Matches In One Week To Prove Starks Belongs At Top Of Card
Right now, Starks is just on the cusp of potentially being a main event babyface star for the company. He’s one of the most beloved names on the roster, is one of the best promos, and has proved time and time again he can deliver in the ring. Having Starks have to win both tournament matches in a two day span, leaving next to no time to recover for the finals is a classic storyline setup – which should have everyone on the side of Starks come Full Gear.
From the moment the bracket was announced – everyone saw the potential finals in Ethan Page vs. Ricky Starks, with this as a chance to make both men into proper main event stars in the company. Page is off to a great start with his victory over Eddie Kingston, and will have his semi-finals match on the upcoming episode of AEW Dynamite or Rampage. Starks path remains unclear, and there’s a chance that this match was delayed due to some sort of injury – but it seems like he’ll have a busy week ahead of Full Gear.
