When it comes to WWE, there are few stars bigger than Undertaker. Being a 7 time world champion and one of the most iconic and long lasting characters in WWE history, there isn’t much left for him to do. We only see him wrestle a few major matches in a year, with him currently slotted to have another Wrestlemania match, this time with AJ Styles. Could this be the last match he has at the event, and is his retirement closer than anyone could have guessed?
Survivor Series Will Mark 30 Years Since His Debut
On November 22nd, 1990, fans at Survivor Series had chills sent down their spines as a 6’10 Western mortician dressed in a trench coat made his ring to join Ted DiBiase’s Million Dollar Team. He would quickly eliminate both Koko B.Ware & Dusty Rhodes before being counted out. This was the dominant debut of The Undertaker, and no one there could have imagined that character would last another 3 decades, or how iconic he would be. WWE previously celebrated the career of Undertaker at the 25th anniversary of his debut with Survivor Series 2015, where he teamed with Kane to defeat The Wyatt Family.
This years Survivor Series is also rumored to be in Dallas, Texas, and while Undertaker is billed from Death Valley, he was born and raised in Texas. With the home field advantage and it being 30 years in a company as wild as WWE, it would be fitting to end his career where it all began in more ways than one.
Who Could Be An Opponent For The Event?
Regardless if it will be his final match or not, we will most definitely see The Deadman show up for this event. One match that many have wanted to see is a clash between The Fiend & The Undertaker. Due to the spooky nature of both performers, and Undertaker being someone who had wronged Wyatt in the past, it would be a fantastic story to be told. If WWE would have them clash in something like a buried alive or casket match at the event, it could be the perfect way to end Undertakers run while elevating The Fiend into the new supernatural final boss of the company.
