The match WWE has wanted for years is finally going to happen at Wrestlemania. Universal Champion Goldberg will defend against Roman Reigns at the event, in a match which is likely to close out the event. You can almost hear Michael Cole hyping up the battle of two masters of The Spear on the biggest stage of them all.
The one perk this feud has over others is that we will not see these men wrestle on the way to the event, as Goldberg is only doing matches on major PPV events. Roman Reigns is a fixture of TV however, and we can expect to see him week in and week out on his way to the event, the question is what will he being doing on his way to April 5th?
Should Roman Reigns Host A Weekly Open Challenge?
One easy solution to keep Roman on TV and to build him up for another World Championship win is to simply have him come out, and challenge someone to step up and prove themselves against him. It would allow him to shine in matches, and prove to fans that he is a dedicated wrestler who will do right by the Universal Championship once he wins it. You could have top faces and heels alike challenge reigns, with potential matches with Cesaro, Kofi Kingston, Daniel Bryan, and more along the way. You could even have someone like Matt Riddle from NXT show up to strut his stuff, and try to prove that he should be the one to be facing Goldberg at Wrestlemania.
A series of high level tune up matches would do a lot to build up hype for Roman Reigns, and it would be much more interesting than seeing a series of sit-down interviews and stare downs with the 53 year old part-timer and the next star of WWE. We could also just have another month of brutal encounters with Baron Corbin, as fans are skeptical if their feud has truly ended after their cage in Saudi Arabia.
If Roman Reigns held an open challenge in the weeks leading up to Wrestlemania, who would you want to see show up to challenge The Big Dog himself? Let us know what you have to say in the comment section down below.
