When asking many wrestling fans what they think of the various shows that they watch on a weekly basis, WWE’s Smackdown and AEW Dynamite is usually good to great, but how did WWE’s “flagship” show get put into the same boat as AEW Rampage?
Why Has the Reception of WWE Monday Night Raw Been Down Lately
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, Monday Night Raw is boring because they don’t have anything higher than the undercard title to strive for.
This is not a knock on the United States Championship by any stretch of the imagination, but when you have world titles in your company, you would think that your THREE HOUR show would have at least one.
This has been an issue that has constantly shown its ugly head. The reason for this is simple. Two of the people in the picture, Seth Rollins and Bobby Lashley, are main event talent.
Because there is no world title for them to go after, they have to gather around the United States title and act like this is what they really want but we all know that its just what they have.
With Seth holding the United States Championship, people liken it to John Cena holding the same title, but the issue is the same as when he held it. Nobody is going to beat him for it.
To give Seth credit, he is more “beatable” than Cena, and Cena didn’t mind losing at that point but they shouldn’t even be in that position.
There are many other wrestlers on the roster that would benefit from having the United States Championship.
To name a few, Austin Theory, who is a step away from being a main eventer, he just needs time.
Mustfa Ali, is a guy that has all of the talent in the world, but no one cares. Maybe if he had proof of how good he is, people will start to pay attention.
Chad Gable is a guy that should be a singles unless they can get him a better tag partner. Nothing against Otis, but there is a very clear difference in wrestling ability between the two.
I would love to see them add another guy to the group and Gable goes to being a singles wrestler and let everyone see how great he is.
Finn Balor is another guy. Him, Seth Rollins, Cody Rhodes, Bobby Lashley, and AJ Styles would be the main event once they get their world title back.
Until then, I don’t think that there is anything wrong will him holding the United States Championship mainly because he is beatable by many people on the roster and he is over.
The last of the reason why the three hour show is boring is because of lack of variety on the show.
They don’t have a tag team division, which sucks. Even though their women’s division is MUCH MUCH better than Smackdown’s, they don’t showcase it enough.
Every week it’s the same thing. Same matches for the most part. Same people on television.
If you look at Smackdown, there are weeks when different titles are the focus. Roman may not be in the building but GUNTHER is or vice versa.
Sometimes, neither of them are on the show but Smackdown has other people that can carry the show and make it watchable.
