Triple H has made plenty of changes to the WWE product that’s helped improve it, but he’s also sought to change the culture backstage as well as he wants it to be fun to come to work instead of everyone walking on egg shells.
One of those changes appears to be drawling the line at what talent they’ll bring back, meaning any wrestler with a controversial past outside of the business won’t be welcomed back.
WWE Not Bringing Back Controversial Talent? Chelsea Green, Matt Cardona, and Bronson Reed Could Return
This is a major departure from Vince McMahon’s policy as he’d make peace with anyone if he could make money with them, and as such there have been several that were given multiple chances in the WWE.
The rumor has been circulating through social media after first being reported by ringsidenews.com, and some of the names Triple H reportedly isn’t interested in bringing back include Alberto Del Rio, Velveteen Dream, and Ryback.
If this is a true policy shift remains to be seen, but it makes sense as there may be a lot of talent available, but it’s a question on if the headaches they bring are worth the benefit.
CM Punk imploding as an alleged cancer in AEW is a perfect example of the potential headaches, so we’ll have to wait and see.
In with the old
While the WWE continues to shift and change their direction, there are a few names being shared on social media for a possible return.
Rumors have swirled about Chelsea Green returning, and Matt Cardona has said he’s open to coming back but as himself and not Zach Ryder.
While there have been reports that Triple H is open to them returning, one name stands out more then others given how popular he was and how much he was liked, and that’s Bronson Reed.
After being released by the WWE, Reed started using the name Jonah in the Indie circuit and he spent some time in Impact Wrestling and New Japan Pro Wrestling.
He’s rumored to be one of the wrestlers Triple H is the most interested in bringing back at the moment, and he talked about his contract with NJPW and how it’s non-exclusive on Wrestling Observer Live in December 2021.
“Yeah, so I have an agreement with New Japan but also, it is non-exclusive so that’s what’s abled me to open up the door to IMPACT Wrestling as well and I’m gonna hopefully be doing more stuff with them. I made quite, you know, pun intended, the IMPACT when I attacked Josh Alexander and I wanna continue to do that wherever I go, you know?
“I think what you were saying, it was a very big head scratcher when I was let go. I too — the way I feel, I had not even peaked in my WWE career, nowhere near it. So now I’m going to peak and put on these performances that people are going to remember elsewhere.”
This work to Reed’s benefit in a lot of ways as it gives him the ability to appear in the WWE if they can work out a deal for him to appear.
Of course, a lot of that may depend on his NJPW contract and his scheduled dates there, but it’ll definitely be in the WWE’s best interest to try to bring him back as well as others that have come in their own since being released.
