When it comes to wrestling families, the Knight family in the UK is one that has made it’s impacts on the industry. The biggest star in the family is Saraya, who was formerly known as Paige in WWE. They were the focus of the 2019 movie ‘Fighting With My Family’, and with Saraya’s recent return to the ring in AEW – they have a way into another family, as Saraya is looking out for her family.
Saraya Wants To Get Her Family Chances In AEW When They Go To The UK
During the most recent edition of the AEW Unrestricted podcast, Saraya would have a chance to speak about her hopes on bringing her family into the AEW ring. Saraya had the following to say.
“I would love it, since I have a family of wrestlers, please, we have to get my brother Zak. Zak has never made it and it’s so frustrating, he’s tried so hard. We need to get him on an AEW Dark show or something like that so we can showcase him. He just did New Japan. People loved him, they’re bringing him back again. He got such a great reaction when he walked out. People didn’t know who he was at first and then they said ‘Zak Zodiac’ and everyone was like ‘YESSS!’ It gave me chills. I would love for my brother to eventually be in AEW and my nephew, Ricky Knight Jr, my nephew Patrick. A whole family thing. Going over to the UK, I’m like, ‘Yes, I will plug them and try to get them on the Dark show.”
AEW are making their debut in the UK with a show booked for London in 2023. Getting the likes of Zak, Ricky Knight Jr and Patrick into a six man tag team match on AEW Dark would be a small ask – given the amount of matches taped for the YouTube exclusive show. If they are able to impress with their performances, building a family faction around Saraya could well be in the future of AEW.
In particular, AEW getting Ricky Knight Jr. on their roster could be huge – after his recent match with Will Ospreay received a five star rating from Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter. Zak Zodiac meanwhile teamed with Bad Dude Tito against Kazuchika Okada & Tomohiro Ishii during NJPW Royal Quest, as well as facing Shota Umino in RevPro.
