When the field for World Tag League was revealed, many fans circled the name of Aussie Open as the winners of the tournament. They look down a set of legends in Toru Yano & Hiroshi Tanahashi on their first night of action, and tonight get to test themselves against the defending World Tag League champions and former IWGP Tag Team Champions in Bishamon. Bishamon were also successful in their first match of the tournament, running House of Torture out of the building – but tonight only one team can move to four points.
Aussie Open Show Why They’re Favorites In This Tournament
YOSHI-HASHI would kick things off with Mark Davis, locking up hard in the middle of the ring. They’d trade shoulder tackle attempts, and with Davis being the bigger man – YOSHI-HASHI would be sent crumbling to the mat. Fletcher would get some quick strikes in after a tag, before Goto hit the ring for a double shoulder tackler and tag team hip toss.
Bishamon hit the War Drum on both Davis & Fletcher, before they’d drive their opponents into the barricade. Aussie Open would regain control of the brawl, and ran Bishamon into each other with spinebusters. Back in the ring, Goto took a PK and an XL Senton – but was able to kick out before three.
Aussie Open would take turns striking away at Goto in their corner, only for Goto to break free and level Fletcher with a lariat. YOSHI-HASHI would get the tag and keep the pressure on, hitting a neckbreaker in the middle of the ring. A rushing chop by the ropes would follow, before a shotgun dropkick to the face.
Bishamon Never Go Down Without A Fight
YOSHI-HASHI would look for the Fisherman Neckbreaker, but Fletcher was able to slip free and hit a Snap Dragon Suplex instead. Davis & Goto got the tags, with Goto able to drop him with the Discus Lariat. Spinning wheel kick into the corner and running bulldog would follow, before Ushigoroshi would be set up. Davis would break free, hitting a scoop slam and another XL Senton.
Dental Plan from Aussie Open would be blocked as YOSHI-HASHI dropped Fletcher with a basement dropkick. Bishamon were able to hit a Diving Headhunter, but Shoto would be blocked – with Davis yanking YOSHI-HASHI from the ring and Fletcher nailing a brainbuster. Dental Plan and the Press Slam Cutter would follow, but Goto managed to hang on.
Davis hit a stiff sliding elbow into the corner, before Goto was able to get the tag to YOSHI-HASHI. Forearm smashes would be exchanged in the middle of the ring, before YOSHI-HASHI hit the ropes for a lariat – getting a two count. Davis would be able to level YOSHI-HASHI, before Corealis would be set. Goto made the save, before he was taken out with a shotgun dropkick.
YOSHI-HASHI would be sandwiched with lariats, and hit with Corealis for the finish. They just wiped the floor with last years winners. Aussie Open move to four points – and tomorrow will meet Minoru Suzuki & Lance Archer. Can Aussie Open keep the wins coming? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
