Shawn Michaels has to choose ten names for the first ever NXT Iron Survivor Challenges at NXT Deadline. Five men will get spots, and so will five women – and with the stacked roster of NXT, there are no easy choices. With a panel of fellow WWE Hall of Famers in X-Pac, Road Dogg, Molly Holly, and Alundra Blayze by his side, HBK will announce who made the cut.
Hall of Fame Panel Discusses Potential Entrants Men’s Iron Survivor Challenge
Shawn wanted to look for the five best men in the brand, not by wins and losses – by overall performances. Many of the names on the roster barely have a few years in the industry, and are improving rapidly. When asked for their stand out names, Road Dogg would pick Carmelo Hayes, the two time NXT North American Champion – who carries himself like a star and belongs in the match.
Blazye would choose Tony D’Angelo, having high profile feuds with Tommaso Ciampa & Santos Escobar, but he’s currently injured – making him questionable. Meanwhile, JD McDonagh, he’s been unsuccessful in two NXT Championship matches, but consistently shows up in a huge way. Hard to not consider him.
Joe Gacy is creepy like JD, but he’s brought Schism into a big time faction and recently got the massive win over Cameron Grimes. He’s been taking all chances to get wins, and belongs in this match. Von Wagner has been one of the big names of the year, but lacks a signature win.
Grayson Waller has been rude, arrogant, but has taken the likes of Ilja Dragunov and AJ Styles to the limit. Finally, they’d all write down their five names… to be revealed later in the night.
Grayson Waller Gets A Big Win After Being Plugged By Five Hall Of Famers
One man who heard every word of that panel was Grayson Waller, who earlier in the night would insult Duke Hudson for collecting signatures to get Andre Chase in the match. He will go one on one with the Aussie powerhouse, both men getting one last chance to prove their cases to the panel – who are watching all matches tonight with intent.
Waller would be cocky as this match began, luring Hudson in before catching him with a headlock. Hudson would turn the hold around, before Waller would be thrown off the ropes. Waller would get Hudson in the corner with some heavy punches before coming out with a lariat and sidewalk slam for the two count.
Hudson would get a roll up and considered grabbing the middle rope, but tried to do things right – and Waller was able to kick out because of this. Waller would be sent to the floor, and Hudson followed – only to get caught in a talk with his teacher. Hudson got back into the ring, and hit the rolling stunner for the victory.
Kiana James & Fallon Henley Have Their Grudge Match
Kiana James recently tried to buy out the family bar from Fallon Henley, and was quickly shut down. There was not enough money in the world to make that deal go through, and that frustrated James. Since then, she’s had some brawls with Henley – and tonight, they take their issue into the ring as they go one on one.
Sending Briggs & Jensen to the back, Henley wanted to do this one on her own – and would run James down with a shoulder tackle as the match began. James would be able to gain control in the corner, only for Henley would get a wrist lock applied. They’d battle over control of the hold – before rolling to the floor where Henley hit some stiff chops.
James would get control with an armbreaker over the ropes, before a scoop slam in the middle of the ring. On commentary, Vic Joseph asked Booker T if he’d let James buy Reality Of Wrestling and destroy it, and he’d say for her – it’s for sale. James would apply an armbar, before Henley broke free with a swinging facebuster.
The arm of Henley would be met with a big boot, before James took a backbreaker into a lariat for a two count. James would slip out of the ring to grab her purse, using it as a distraction to throw Henley into the post before the 401K for the victory.
