I have a love hate relationship with AEW but Dark and Dark Elevation is usually safe from my criticism. While I think that there are many things that AEW could do to improve these shows, I think that there are already many good things about the shows that I wanted to give them praise about.
AEW Showcasing Their Underused Talent
One of my biggest complaints about AEW Dynamite and Rampage is their over reliance on former WWE talent. When AEW was first coming out, they said that they wanted to be an alternative to WWE, but you can’t fully do that when you’re basically WWE.
This being said, there are many people that I see on Dark and Dark Elevation are people that has never been in WWE or if they have, they weren’t used much.
While I know that there is a reason why some of these wrestlers are on these shows, most of them are here because AEW just don’t have anything to do with them.
A Place to Develop
Dark and Dark Elevation allows wrestlers to develop their character work early on. I understand that everyone on the show isn’t ready for television, but they can use this chance to help make themselves ready.
Many fans overhype many of the wrestlers that are showcased on AEW’s weekly television shows, but the younger talent tend to be more interesting to me.
If AEW could do something like advertise Dark and Dark Elevation on Dynamite and Rampage to try to get more people tuning in to this action, I think that it could go far in making things that happen on these shows mean something.
Scouting Future AEW Talent
The wrestlers that the signed AEW talent wrestle on Dark and Dark Elevation are usually making their debuts for AEW. Its cool that AEW is giving them work and a platform, but I would like to see AEW sign a bunch of these guys (and gals).
I know that AEW probably think that they have the best of the best and all of the best young talent, but you never know what kind of value you can get from an enhancement talent.
Almost every wrestler probably started where they started and you will never know how they will turn out unless you give them even a small chance. Its usually not something that you can tell from just one match.
