I will be the first person to tell you that AEW Dark isn’t a bad show at all even though they don’t do much other than have meaningless matches. This isn’t a bad thing but I think that these shows can be so much more than it is and here are three things that they could do to improve these shows.
Improve the Presentation of AEW Dark/Dark Elevation
What you may be thinking is that its just a wrestling show on YouTube and it has great production value already.
Both of these are true but like I think that AEW could do a better job with making Dark and Elevation a part of Dynamite and Rampage, the same can be said in reverse.
When you typically look at Dark and Elevation, they don’t give you an update on what happened on the main shows.
They expect you to already look at the shows and know what is going on in the company.
While as a wrestling fan, you may know but with these shows being on a platform that is free and anyone can watch, they should give updates to their main shows.
Even if it is something simple like a three-to-five-minute recap video of what happened in the past week, its better than nothing.
Reuse the Enhancement Talents
Whenever I watch AEW’s YouTube shows, I see wrestlers signed to AEW that I don’t see often, which I love.
Something else that I have noticed is that most of the matches that they have are against wrestlers making their AEW debut.
This sounds like a good thing and it is, but there are always one or two people making their debuts on each show that I wish they would bring back.
I know that AEW want to spread the love around the wrestling world but there are many wrestlers that do a good job and many that don’t. Reward the ones that do a good job by bringing them back.
I am not saying bring them back, give them a gimmick, and push them to the moon. I am saying bring them back and let them develop alongside of your talent.
I’m sure that you could sign some of these wrestlers for very cheap and on short term contracts. Renew them as needed and see what value you can get out of them.
Give Wrestlers a Reason to Be on Dark
The primary reason to be on AEW Dark and Dark Elevation is to just get into the ring, pick up a few useless wins, and to showcase your talent AEW fans.
While this is enough for most people, when I think of having a reason to be on Dark, I think that there needs to be some sort of goal or objective to strive for.
The quickest way to solve this, in my opinion, is to give these shows at least a men’s and women’s championship on the show.
I would want a secondary tag team or trios title on the show too but the singles titles are enough.
Something else they could do is to give the show more storylines exclusive to the shows.
