England football players were taken aback when robbers with weapons entered Raheem Sterling‘s house, where his partner and kids were present.
England Footballer Raheem Sterling Left Qatar After His Home Was Robbed
This caused Sterling to leave the team while they were participating in the World Cup. According to reports, the football player had to hastily return from Qatar to make sure his family were safe and sound following the raid on his home in Cobham, Surrey Saturday, 3rd December 2022.
The robbery was the most recent of a sequence of thefts at footballers’ residences. England manager Gareth Southgate had confirmed that Sterling would not play in the country’s game against Senegal due to a ‘family issue’.
Southgate affirmed the player would be returning to Britain, yet neglected to give a timeline for when he was expected back. According to a source close to the family, approximately £300,000 worth of watches were taken during the robbery.
This is not the first time that something like this has happened to Sterling. In 2018, his residence in Cheshire was targeted by thieves. However, they ran away when the alarm system was set off and they were unable to steal anything.
With that being said, Southgate confirmed that the whole squad is fully behind him. His following comments confirmed as much: “The priority for him is to be with his family.
“We’re going to support that and leave him to have as much time as he needs. He’s going home. I don’t want to put him under pressure. Sometimes football isn’t the most important thing, family should come first.”
The response on social media was much the same. A significant proportion of people came out with some warm words and hoped that everything would turn out to be fine in the end. After all, this will have had an impact on Sterling’s mental health.
One person wrote: “How terrifying, hope his family are all ok.” So there you have it folks. What did you think about this? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
