WWE Rumors: Will Bayley Defend The Smackdown Women's Championship Against Five Women At Wrestlemania?

In WWE, there is a group of women who have defined the modern style of wrestling in the division. These are the Four Horsewomen of NXT, Sasha Banks, Becky Lynch, Charlotte Flair and Bayley. Bayley has always been the overlooked one in the group, but has now achieved something no other one could do.

148 Days As Champion And Still Going

After beating Charlotte Flair on an episode of Smackdown Live in November 2019, Bayley would become a two time champion. Since that day, no woman has been able to take the title from Bayley. Nikki Cross, Naomi, Carmella and Lacey Evans have all fell to Bayley, and as of today, she has beaten the previous record of 147 days set by Charlotte Flair. In this time, she has gotten comfortable in her new heel persona, doing anything it takes to notch a victory.

The Bayley of old was as pure a babyface as you could find, but that wasn’t working for her. Prior to becoming a villain, her only singles run as a champion on the main roster was 70 days as RAW Women’s Champion, but she has now had two 140+ day reigns as Smackdown Women’s Champion.

Bayley Has Held The Smackdown Women’s Championship For Longer Than Anyone Else

At 288 days across her two reigns, Bayley has now staked a claim as the greatest champion in it’s short history. The only person who has even come close is Becky Lynch, who over three reigns she held the title for 211 days. Next on that list is Charlotte Flair who despite holding the title a record five times, has only had a combined 193 days as champion.

    Who Will End Her Reign?

With Wrestlemania on the horizon, we can expect Bayley’s reign to end there. Having defeated every active babyface in the division, there aren’t many options. Lacey Evans & Naomi are both recent challengers, and Sasha Banks is not to be trusted either. We could see a fatal four way at Wrestlemania, which would be a great way to move the belt to Sasha Banks. Her & Bayley made their names with a now iconic feud in NXT, and this might be the start of the next chapter of this, which freshening up the title picture.

Do you think Bayley has been a good holder of the Smackdown Women’s Championship, or are you eager to see her lose the championship? Let us know in the comment section down below.

A wrestling fan practically since birth, who has been hooked since he got his first toy wrestling ring for Christmas as a child. Since getting access to the internet, he's watched more wrestling than he could ever remember from all around the world. It's hard to keep track of what happens in the wild world of professional wrestling, but he always tries to stay up to date. Note: No relation to Tully Blanchard of Four Horsemen fame (probably).
