It’s time for the annual Dynamite Diamond Ring Battle Royale. There’s a slight rule change this year, with the winner of the match going on to face MJF after Winter Is Coming for the ring, with the AEW World Heavyweight Champion refusing to wrestle an extra match to get to that point.
Already announced for the match is Matt Hardy, Brian Cage, Ethan Page, Dalton Castle, Ricky Starks, Jack Perry, & Shawn Dean. More names will enter the field, with 12 names in the mix in 2021. Also seen around the ring were Orange Cassidy, Lee Moriarty, Butcher, and the hometown hero Dustin Rhodes – who wouldn’t mind running his final year with the Dynamite Diamond ring on his hand.
Ricky Starks Wins Dynamite Diamond Ring Battle Royale
Everyone hit the ring except Kip Sabiran & Orange Cassidy who brawled on the floor. Starks would drop Moriarty with a lariat, before Castle was driven face first into the corner. Page & Hardy would work together on Castle, with Hardy doing the bulk of the damage. Sabain would toss Cassidy over the top rope and try to bite the hands as Cassidy held on.
The Blade would yank Cassidy down, and eliminate him. Rhodes hit a Canadian Destroyer on and sent Sabian from the ring, before being cornered by The Butcher. Put the apron, Butcher would take Rhodes out – to the dismay of the fans. Cage would nearly eliminate Castle, but The Boys would save him from elimination before Castle was thrown from the ring again.
Perry struck from behind with a dropkick, sending Cage to the apron before eliminating him with a double knee strike. Moriarty would focus on Perry in the corner, as Butcher tried and failed to throw Hardy out. Hardy would slam the face of Starks off the turnbuckles, before trying to send him out of the ring and ending up nearly facing elimination himself.
Page would attack as Starks got back in the ring and triple teamed by The Firm. Starks would break free and eliminate The Butcher, before Perry eliminated Moriarty before W. Morrissey would take Perry out and chokeslam him off the apron. Page & Hardy would work together on Starks, before Dean made the save and went after Page with a DDT.
Hardy would save Page from elimination and hit the Twist of Fate, before Page threw him out. Page would berate Hardy while Starks recovered, only for The Firm to beat him down. Starks threw Hardy out, before hitting the DDT on Page. Page tried for a powerslam, but was sent from the ring. Starks wins!
MJF Doesn’t Let Starks Get His Moment
As Page went over the top rope, MJF would hit the ring. Starks has a chance to take everything from MJF – now having a match for the AEW World Championship and Dynamite Diamond Ring. MJF would say he’ll get to Starks in a second, before calling out Bryan Danielson – who is in the hospital with his injured mentor, William Regal. Claiming Danielson is scared, MJF said he would be too.
He intends to be a four time winner of the Dynamite Diamond Ring when Starks tries and fails to get the win. The fans look at Starks like some underrated god of professional wrestling, and while he’s great – that’s far from the truth. In comparison to MJF, Starks is the absolute drizzling shits.
He’s stolen everything from The Rock, and is just a dollar store Dwayne. MJF is going to just call Starks ‘The Pebble’ and next week – he’s gonna kick his ass right back to Billy Corgans NWA where Starks belong. He doesn’t have a chance, and MJF’s reign of terror has just begun.
Ricky Starks Is Unleashed
Starks would get his own microphone, and called MJF a ‘fifth rate Roddy Piper wannabe’ who cuts the same promo every week. He’d run down the appearance of MJF before saying that he has no right to think he’s better than anyone else. Everything about MJF screams cheap from his shoes to his heat.
With the AEW World Heavyweight Championship around his waist, MJF has a responsibility. When the fans got behind Starks, he gave them a reason to keep caring – unlike MJF. While MJF was whining about not making money, Starks was putting the work in. MJF avoids meet and greets because he knows no fans want to see him anyways, while Starks has a line out the door.
Starks is able to provide for his family, able to overcome adversity constantly, and next week is a big deal. MJF is going to be shut up for the first time in his life. Starks never needed a name to make it to AEW, and doesn’t need one to beat him next week. MJF would poke Starks in the eyes, before being speared out of his shoes. Starks would hold the belt high, as MJF rolled around in pain.
