In what might seem like a sketch or an improv suggestion, a Florida man attempted to shoplift in a Walmart filled with almost 40 Osceola County deputies on December 1, 2022.
Florida Man Arrested After Trying to Shoplift At Walmart Filled with 40 Deputies for Community Event
The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office was at a Walmart in St. Cloud for the Shop With a Cop event. There, children in the area are paired with an officer to go on a shopping spree in the weeks before Christmas. The event was heavily promoted and there was an obvious police presence in the store—in uniform.
So, the shoplifter—identified only as “Brad”—walks into the Walmart with every intention of filling his pockets. What was stolen wasn’t listed but Sheriff Marcos Lopez did post the weird incident on Facebook:
“Seriously we just can’t make this up. Brad decided to steal from our good neighbors and partners at Walmart in St. Cloud while we were conducting the Shop With a Cop event with the children of our community. Bad news, Brad! The store was full of deputies, almost 40, beside the forensics team, the community services team, the CSOs, the OCSO Majors, and Sheriff Marcos R. Lopez. Bad idea, Brad.”
