Over the past few years, we’ve seen All Elite Wrestling go from a hopeful start-up to a genuine force in professional wrestling. Tony Khan has done a fine job building up his roster since 2019, and lately has been working on tightening up other aspects of the company and it’s programming. From getting Renee Paquette as a backstage interviewer and signing Jeff Jarrett to help with expanding their range in live events, and now signing the former Vice President of Global Television from WWE.
Mike Mansury Worked With WWE To Produce TV For 11 Years
AEW has hired Mike Mansury, and will be starting his work with AEW on the upcoming episode of AEW Dynamite. Having worked with WWE from 2009 to 2020, Mansury was viewed by many as the successor of Kevin Dunn. He left the company on his own accord in 2020, with this being his return to the professional wrestling industry.
His job title within AEW is officially “Senior Vice President & Co-Executive Producer” and it seems obvious that he will be working in the production truck, helping to air episodes of AEW Dynamite, Rampage and PPV events. Since AEW’s start, their production has left a lot to be desired – and Mansury could well be the man who could help to fix long standing issues.
Dubbed The Second Biggest Signing In AEW Next To Chris Jericho
Bryan Alvarez of the Wrestling Observer would hype this up based on reactions he got from sources in both WWE & AEW. He’d have the following to say on the Filthy Four Daily podcast with Filthy Tom Lawlor.
“Mike Mansury was just hired by AEW. …when it was announced that he signed with AEW, the first people that started contacting me were from WWE, and they were like ‘Holy shit. Holy shit.’ One person even said here, ‘hiring Mike is the second best signing in the history of AEW next to Chris Jericho.’”
Jericho was considered the first big signing for AEW when they got their start in 2019, helping bring in lapsed WWE viewers with his name value. While Mansury doesn’t bring name value, improving the look of AEW events could help increase viewership and help them get even bigger TV deals in the future. Getting experienced names in various roles is what AEW needs to focus on going forward, as they work to fill in gaps.
