No matter what promotion you wrestle for, there’s always an off-chance that Jeff Jarrett will show up and put a guitar over someone’s head. That happened recently, after Jay Lethal had already defeated Darby Allin.
Jarrett was called in to help solve the issue of Allin & Sting, pointing out that an over reliance on Sting has been the biggest weak spot Allin has shown during his time in the promotion. Now tonight, Lethal & Jarrett will team up to face Sting & Allin at Full Gear – marking the in-ring debut for Jarrett in All Elite Wrestling.
Jarrett would call some people in Sting masks to the ring with him, and was armed with a guitar. Earlier today, we’ve heard this is now a No DQ match – as requested by all four men in this match. There was a body bag at the top of the stage, and Lethal went to investigate but was jumped by Darby Allin.
Sting & Darby Allin Rise To The Occasion Once Again
In the ring, Sting would sneak up on his old rival of Jarrett – and he’d beg off once he realised he was caught. A loud TNA chant broke out, as Allin & Sting would pinball Jarrett with punches. Jarrett was sent out to the floor, and hit with a dive by Allin. They’d brawl off into the crowd, as Sting threw Lethal onto the apron.
Allin would go to the top of the ramp and grabbed a ladder and climb it. Jarrett would avoid a 25 ft Coffin Drop – with Satnam Singh catching him like he was nothing and throwing him onto the ramp with a bounce. Sting would throw Lethal at Singh, and he was caught – however a flying Sting would finally drop him.
Jarrett would get Allin down by the ringside area, throwing him into the steps and hitting him with a steel chair. Allin would be caught between the middle rope and a leg drop from Jarrett. Sting would get the tag, and would get the Scorpion Deathlock applied to Jarrett. Singh would break it up, hitting a chokeslam on the legend.
Lethal would catch Allin with the Lethal combination, before Jarrett would swing with the guitar and almost get Lethal. Lethal would be dropped by Allin, before Jarrett blocked the Coffin Drop with a guitar shot – and Allin would fire up like Sting. Backhands would follow before the Coffin Splash. Singh took the Deathdrop with the help off a Coffin Drop, before Sting blocked the Lethal Injection into the Deathdrop before the Coffin Splash for the victory!
…And They Were Roomates
Since winning the Interim AEW Women’s World Championship at All Out 2022, Toni Storm has been the very image of a fighting champion. She’s been one of the most active wrestlers in the company, notching three title defences and four championship eliminator matches. Tonight however, she meets her greatest challenge to date – as she goes one on one with a former friend in Jamie Hayter. They were roomates during the early days of the pandemic, but that is now ancient history – and tonight, Hayter will do anything to walk away with the gold.
They’d lock up hard in the middle of the ring, battling for control all around the world. Hayter would be take into a hammerlock, but was able to counter into a sidelock. Storm would turn this hold around, before being sent off the ropes and looking to set up Storm Zero – with Hayter looking for the Ripcord Lariat as a counter.
Hayter would be sent to the apron with a dropkick, before a running hip attack into the face. Storm would follow Hayter to the floor, and would be driven right into the barricade. Hayter would duck a chop, causing Storm to chop the steel of the ringpost instead, before throwing her into the ring.
Hayter would hit a snap Jackhammer, getting a near fall. Storm would be taken into a sleeper hold in the middle of the ring, and was able to fire up and catch Hayter with the Thesz Press before some wild punches. Hatyter stumbled into the corner, and the stiff hip attack would follow.
Jamie Hayter Wins The Big One
Storm went to the top rope, and came down hard with a crossbody before following up with a Tornado DDT. Hayter was able to kick out, but the offense of Storm was quickly adding up. Storm would be kicked into the ropes, and came back with a headbutt and fall right into a pinfall – but only got a two count.
Hayter would rise up and hit some strikes as Rebel snuck down the ramp. Storm would hit a running elbow smash, and Hayter responded with a knee to the midsection. Rebel would hit Storm with the belt, before Hayter hit a sliding lariat for the near fall. Rebel would make her presence known, and got sent to the back.
Ripcord lariat would be avoided, with Storm hitting one of her own. A hip attack would miss on the floor, with Britt Baker rushing in and hitting a curb stomp onto the title. Hayter followed up with a Storm Zero Piledriver, yet somehow Storm still kicked out. Ripcord Lariat would be blocked with a German Suplex and Storm Zero – but Hayter had more left in the tank.
Haytebreaker would land after Baker distracted Storm, before Hayter would hit some back elbows in the corner. On the other side of the ring, Baker was trying to loosen a turnbuckle – and Hayter was thrown into her – before Storm was tossed into the steel, and hit with the ripcord lariat for the victory!
