Stephen “tWitch” Boss has passed away at age 40. His passing was confirmed by his wife, Allison Holker Boss, in a statement issued to PEOPLE.
Allison, 34, shared with PEOPLE, “It is with the heaviest of hearts that I have to share my husband Stephen has left us. “Stephen lit up every room he stepped into. He valued family, friends and community above all else and leading with love and light was everything to him. He was the backbone of our family, the best husband and father, and an inspiration to his fans.”

“To say he left a legacy would be an understatement, and his positive impact will continue to be felt,” she continued. “I am certain there won’t be a day that goes by that we won’t honor his memory. We ask for privacy during this difficult time for myself and especially for our three children.” Allison closed her statement with a sweet message for her late husband.
“Stephen, we love you, we miss you, and I will always save the last dance for you.” Per TMZ, The cause of death is a suicide. The outlet shared that his wife, Allison Holker realized that something was amiss when he had left their house minus his car. She reported to the police. Around the same time, the police’s attention was drawn to a gunshot at a hotel in LA, and that was where tWitch was found. He was killed by a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Stephen Boss rose to fame when he contested on MTV’s The Wade Robson Project and later went on to compete on So You Think You Can Dance in 2008, where he returned as an All-Star. He returned to the show as a judge in 2022.
He joined The Ellen DeGeneres Show in 2014 as a guest DJ and became co-executive producer of the show in 2020. Boss featured in many high-profile films and shows such as Modern Family, Magic Mike XXL, and Step Up All In. Boss is survived by his wife Allison and their three children, Zaia, 3, Maddox, 6, and Weslie, 14.
