The CBP based at the Santa Teresa Port of Entry apprehended a man with an arrest warrant in Lakewood, Colorado. Authorities didn’t reveal the suspect’s name but identified him as a 23-year-old man from the U.S.
Border Agents Arrest Man Evading Arrest in Colorado After He Returned from Mexico
On December 19, 2022, the 23-year-old arrived in the U.S coming from Mexico. The suspect was subject to the same inspection process that has resulted in billions of dollars in drugs being seized and human traffickers being stopped.
So, this gambit to evade Lakewood PD by fleeing into Mexico then returning to the U.S while wanted obviously wasn’t going to work. The first inspection turned up a hit for an arrest warrant matching the name on his identification. Biometric checks matched the suspect and he was arrested by the CBP before being handed over to local authorities.
From there, he will be extradited back to Lakewood, Colorado to face charges. Port Director Tony Hall was pleased with the arrest made by the Santa Teresa Port of Entry agents:
“CBP Officers at the Santa Teresa port are working hard to identify and stop any and all threats to the American public. Apprehending wanted individuals is part of what we do.”
