In Cedar City, Utah, a man was sentenced for drug trafficking after he was stopped while speeding. He was stopped on August 10, 2022 while going 100 MPH in a 75 MPH zone.
Utah Man Sentenced to Under a Year for Drug Trafficking After Being Arrested for Speeding with Meth in the Car
When Daniel Flores (22) was stopped, a search was done of his vehicle and c deputies discovered 12 pounds of meth hidden in a box in the backseat. On November 28, 2022, Flores pleaded guilty to second-degree possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute. The charge constitutes a felony and comes with anywhere between a year to 15 years.
Since Flores took the plea deal, Judge Matthew Bell gave him 364 days in the Iron County Jail with time served. Looking at an August 2023 release date, he will be placed on three years of supervised release and was ordered to pay a fine of $2,053.
His payments have been set at a minimum $50 per month and will start in December 2023.
