This week was light on the bad parts for AEW Dark Elevation. Most of the things are small issues but they are still things that could be improved on because they are mostly repetitive issues.
The Bad from AEW Dark Elevation
Starting off the bad parts of Dark Elevation, we have the women’s tag team match between The Vicious Vixens taking on Leva Bates and Karizma.
This match was not good. I know that Marina Shafir and Nyla Rose aren’t considered ring generals but their matches have consistently not been good.
I know that Dark and Dark Elevation is a place to develop as a wrestler, but I just don’t think that this team is working. While Shafir may be newer to wrestling, I think that she is the most interesting person of the act.
She might not be the smoothest wrestler around but I think that her offense typically look great for who she is and what her style is.
I would focus on developing her. I think the best way to do this is to get her into a group with a woman that she could learn from like Athena. Nyla got a reaction from the crowd but didn’t add much to the match.
The post-match backstage promo wasn’t good either. This group has been around for a while and there just isn’t anything interesting about them.
This promo sounded very robotic. Vickie came across as good as possible, but it sounded like all of them were practicing their lines.
The last thing on this show that I didn’t enjoy was the match between The Bunny and Madison Rayne.
The match itself wasn’t bad but it was filled with something that takes me out of a match.
Looking into the camera and posing or talking is alright when it is done by people who commands that kind of thing, but it runs rampant in AEW. It’s like it is one of the only ways that people with a gimmick can think of to get it over.
Also, too much playing to the crowd is not fun to watch either. Usually, your opponent has to look like an absolute goof while you do that.
On top of this, there have been many times when wrestlers try to play to the crowd and get zero reaction which makes them look even worse.
