Claudio Castagnoli was close to winning the $300,000 Three Kings Christmas Casino Trios Battle Royal, but the final stretch saw him trying to take out both Dante Martin & Darius Martin of Top Flight – and their speed was too much for even the Swiss Superman. When taking the singles match between Jon Moxley & Darius from last Wednesday, there’s a 1-1 record now between Top Flight & Blackpool Combat Club.
Tonight, we will see Moxley & Castagnoli team up to take on Top Flight in tag team action – but the interest of Moxley might still be fixated on Hangman Page. Moxley & Page are keen to destroy each other, and that is a much bigger challenge than Top Flight. Prior to this match, Hangman Page would be assessed – and if he keeps out of brawls, we could see him back in the ring in two weeks. If the brawls with Moxley continued, he might never get cleared.
Styles Make Fights
Top Flight would start this fight fast, keeping BCC on the floor – only for both Dante & Darius to be caught during dives and ran into the barricade. Darius & Moxley would hit the ring, and the bell would ring. BCC would work on beating Darius down in their corner with some heavy strikes, with Moxley getting a one count off of a PK. The jacket of Darius would be torn off and kicked to the floor, before Castagnoli would hit a heavy body slam.
Moxley would hit some heavy chops in the neutral corner, before biting the forehead of Darius. Darius was put on the top rope, and had his back raked. Moxley would be fought off, allowing Dante to finally get the tag – only to be launched with a suplex. The leg of Moxley would be attacked, with Darius taking advantage of this potential injury on the floor.
Back in the ring, Top Flight would take advantage with a slick series of double team ending with Dante hitting a Swanton Bomb, jumping from the apron into the ring, like a no-rope slingshot senton. Dante would go back to the knee, showing he can do more than fly about – showing a technical side.
Moxley would kick Dante from the ring, but Darius would prevent the tag from being completed. A suplex from Darius would be blocked into the X-Plex, with Moxley finally able to complete the much needed tag to Castagnoli. Dante would meet Castagnoli in the ring, being hit with the rushing European Uppercuts before being dropped with a running dropkick.
Blackpool Combat Club Up Their Aggression As Top Flight Refuses To Stay Down
Darius would look to save Dante from the Giant Swing, only to get swung instead – with this being the move that won him back the ROH World Championship. Dante would help Darius get free, and worked to take Castagnoli down for a two count. A double suplex from Top Flight would be blocked, with Castagnoli flaunting his power and suplexing both opponents.
Dante would vault over Castagnoli on the ropes before a kick, setting up the slingshot flatliner – forcing Moxley to make the save. Darius & Moxley would trade strikes in the middle of the ring, before a double superkick from Top Flight took him down. Top Flight would take aim at Castagnoli, blocking the Swiss Death.
Dante was thrown from the ring but turned it into a dive on Moxley, as Darius hit the Spanish Fly in the ring for a two count. Backslide would get a two count, before Castagnoli nailed the Neutrailizer. That should have been the end, but Darius kicked out to the shock of everyone. Hammer & Anvil elbows would follow, with Dante failing to break it up.
Moxley would take Dante out with the Death Rider on the floor, as Castagnoli would lift Darius from the mat. Castagnoli put everything he had left into a European Uppercut, and this match was over – with Blackpool Combat Club the winners, showing another level of aggression here tonight.
HOOK Doesn’t Fear Big Bill
Last week, HOOK would make a rare appearance on AEW Dynamite defeating Exodus Prime – only to be sent backstage by an attack on ‘Jungle Boy’ by The Firm. Tonight, HOOK is in action again, taking on Baylum Lux
HOOK would start fast with some heavy body punches before a hip toss into the corner. A running lariat was followed by an exploder suplex and some crossface blows. They’d be turned into the Redrum, and HOOK ends 2022 with a 17-0 record.
After this, Stokely Hathaway would march to the ring with Lee Moriarty & Big Bill – saying the hype around HOOK isn’t warranted. ‘Jungle Boy’ Jack Perry would hit the ramp to take Moriarty down, as HOOK stared at Big Bill showing no fear. The chokeslam was blocked, and HOOK got him up for the T-Bone, with Bill blocking.
Chokeslam was attempted again and Perry nailed Bill in the spine with a 2×4. It seems like we could be seeing either a tag team match or Big Bill going for the FTW Championship in the coming weeks.
What will 2022 hold for HOOK & Perry? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
