For the final AEW Dark of the year, there was a few things that did not hit the way that they probably thought that it would. Even though these things weren’t that good, I think that they could learn from what they saw and make it better next time.
The Bad from AEW Dark
I am starting off with something that people probably wouldn’t expect would be on here.
The backstage promo involving Arn and Brock Anderson fell flat. Brock sounded strange on the mic. One of the selling points about AEW was that the promos would not be scripted.
While wrestling fans loved this, I knew that it would be a bad idea. If this promo was off the top of his head, then someone needs to write his promos for him, and it shouldn’t be his dad, Arn.
Arn wasn’t much better than his son. I know that he is a legend and can talk on the mic, but this was absolutely terrible. He sounded like he had something to say but he just didn’t care about it.
If this show isn’t live, they should’ve made them redo this promo.
Next, The Workhorsemen defeated the Hughes Brothers. The match was a squash match. It wasn’t bad. I like the Workhorsemen and want to see more of them. The Hughes Brothers had a good look, and I think that AEW should showcase them more even if they are losing, so that we can see what they can do.
The issue in this match was that the crowd didn’t care about it at all. Nothing that they did got a reaction from anyone. I am not sure if Dark and Dark Elevation are recorded back-to-back, but if it is, I don’t even think that it would be a reason because they were hot for the main event.
This carried over to another squash match, when Fuego del Sol defeated Lucky Ali. This match was eerily silent also. This was also the first time that I heard Fuego speak on the mic.
With me being from Alabama, I can say, that he is from Alabama. I can also say that he should not speak on the mic ever again until he gets better. He got a strange chant from the crowd, then proceeded with his squash.
The last bad from the show was Brock Anderson losing to Daddy Magic. I know that there is most likely a longer storyline going on here but I hope that these two aren’t the only people involved in it.
I am not sure who is to blame for this match being as bland as it was. Usually, I tend to put it on the person with the least experience, but maybe it wasn’t Brock’s fault. It was just not good all around.
