For the first AEW Dark of this year, they really put their best foot forward, but that doesn’t mean that everything was good. Many of these complaints are more personal than something that might be bad, but they were points that I didn’t enjoy at all.
The Bad from AEW Dark
The first bad from this week is the crowd. Before I completely crap on the crowd, there are some reasons that could be the issue.
Firstly, it is one the wrestlers to entertain the crowd. I think that there was a lot of entertaining parts to this show, and I think that the talent deserved a better crowd. That being said, it is possible that AEW have double tapings for Dark and Dark Elevation on the same days.
If this is the case, I completely understand if the crowd are bored by the second hour. If not and they are just being boring, Dark might need to get out of Florida.
The first thing matchwise that I didn’t like was the Emi Sakura match. I’ve said it at least three times already, I really don’t like the Emi Sakura act as a whole. The live crowd seems like they enjoy it and that’s all that matter though.
I am very sorry, but I don’t like the Dark Order at all. I know that they supposed to be a fun act that the fans can enjoy, but I don’t enjoy them at all. I tend to watch them, hoping that they give me a reason to want to see them, but they don’t.
What was the point of the Shawn Dean match? It was a squash and lasted less than a minute, but was it really needed?
I think that they could’ve just said that he won a match and no one would’ve known. This isn’t saying that Dean isn’t good, I’ve seen him a few times before and he is. I am saying that the match wasn’t needed.
Lastly, the Blake Christian match really irked my old school wrestling fan nerve. Either Blake’s offense is powder soft or the is just doing too much. Something that I really hate, and you see it too much in AEW, is moves being done for the sake of doing them.
In the end, it just makes all of the normal moves look like they are ineffective. If an enhancement talent can kick out of the offense that Blake did to his opponent, then the main event of AEW should be able to kick out of getting hit by a car.
