The Brownsville Police Department recently arrested a man for stealing booze and threatening the clerks with brass knuckles that had a knife attached. On January 25, 2023 at around 10:30 PM, Victor Almarez (23) and a 15-year-old accomplice carjacked a driver at the Brownsville Event Center parking lot.
Roughly an hour later, the two arrived at a Stripes convenience store where the theft occurred.

According to authorities, Almarez went into the store located on Coffee Port and took several alcoholic beverages without paying and left the store. Moments later, he returned with the bladed brass knuckles. He told them that if they called the police he would use the knuckles on them.
The duo were found at 12:20 AM and they were still in the stole vehicle. An officer tried to conduct a traffic stop but Almarez wouldn’t stop the vehicle until he reached the Sunrise Mall parking lot. Authorities were able to apprehend the two and confiscated more than $400 in absconded alcohol.
The Brownsville PD said that the teenager was placed in the Darrel Hester Juvenile Center. Meanwhile, Victor Almarez was charged with aggravated robbery, theft, robbery, and evading arrest with a motor vehicle. He remains in jail on a $291,000 bond.
