After almost 60 years of performing and touring, heavy metal pioneer and iconic Black Sabbath frontman Ozzy Osbourne retires from live performances and touring. As we know, in recent years Ozzy hasn’t been in the best physical health and touring and traveling couldn’t have made his condition any better.

The announcement came after Osbourne canceled his UK and European shows. Those shows were slated for May 2023 and were actually meant to finish up The No More Tours II your that the 74-the year-old singer cut during COVID both because of injury and worldwide cancellations of live events. The timing just never seemed right to kick the tour off again.

When the time was right and things settled, the European and UK tours were announced but health—particularly an injury that never got better—ended hopes that the final tour would be concluded. In his career farewell, he would express concerns of letting the fans down but pointed out that he physically he just couldn’t do the shows—or any live performances.

However, Ozzy didn’t count out some sort of performances that didn’t involve all the traveling:

“Never would I have imagined that my touring days would have ended this way. My team is currently coming up with ideas where I will be able to perform without having to travel from city to city and country to country.”

Osbourne closed his announcement by thanking the fans, his family, his band, and fellow Birmingham-born metal pioneers  Judas Priest for 56 years of support.
