The fact that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were not present at Oprah Winfrey’s 69th birthday shows that public opinion in the United States is beginning to oppose them.
Harry And Meghan’s Absence From Oprah’s 69th Birthday Was A Sign Of Their Poor US Approval Ratings-‘Says Valentine Low
That is according to royal expert Nile Gardiner. The Sussexes were absent from the event, which was a surprise since they had confided in Oprah by giving her the exclusive-damning interview against the firm in 2021.
However, their absence was reinforced by the attendance of other guests such as Kim Kardashian. It is still a mystery why Harry and Meghan did not show up at the gathering, but it is becoming more and more evident that the view of the two in the United States is not favourable.
A survey by Newsweek was quite damaging to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, with Meghan being less liked by Americans than Queen Consort Camilla. After all, the latter did have an affair with the now King Charles III.
And yet, she was more popular. The results were collected from 2,000 eligible voters six days after Spare, Harry’s autobiography, was released. The Duke’s popularity decreased significantly in the survey, going from a net favourability of +38 in December to -7 in January.
Furthermore, the poll revealed that 44% of Americans believed Harry should not have divulged private family conversations in his book whereas only 26% supported his decision to do so.
Royal expert Valentine Low confirmed as much: “I get the impression, having been in the States, they have lost some of that popularity.” The response on social media was much the same.
A large proportion of people felt that the couple were no longer relevant in the United States since their departure from the Royal Family.
One person wrote: “I think everyone needs a reality check. The vast majority of Americans do not care about the British royal family either which way. Full stop.”
