The AEW Dark Elevation shows that happen outside of their home area are always a step above the rest. I found myself not liking more on this show than usual but it was mostly good. Here are the best parts of AEW Dark Elevation this week.
The Good from AEW Dark Elevation
Firstly, I would like to say that I really like that Paul Wright even attempted to call a match on commentary alone. While it wasn’t the best, the effort from him was there and it turned out to be pretty good when it sounded like it was going to be a disaster at first.
Moving on to the actual event, the Juice Robinson squash match is the first match that made it onto this list. While even by squash match standards, this wasn’t the best, I think that it served its purpose.
Whatever they do every week with the Dark Order backstage trying to recruit new members is great. I don’t know where this is going and I still don’t like the Dark Order very much but I have to give credit where credit is due. This is very entertaining.
Next, the first match of the night that I actually enjoyed a lot was the match between Yuka Sakazaki and Billie Starkz.
This is the first Yuka match that I have ever liked. She is slowly growing on me, but I think that it will take a little more time. On the other hand, I think that Billie Starkz is going to be huge for them once they give her some more matches.
At 18 years old, I don’t think that there is any rush to push her into the limelight or make her into the biggest star possible. I think her losing while putting on some of the best women’s matches on Dark and Elevation is the way to go.
I hope that they don’t do the classic AEW thing and have her start winning on Dark and Elevation only to try to make her seem like a big deal so that she can be fed to an already established star at one of their frequent big weekly television events.
Moving on, the Powerhouse Hobbs squash match was solid. I think that Hobbs is in a strange spot in AEW they aren’t using him or putting him into anything that matters but they keep having him wrestle squash matches.
At this point, I think that these squash matches are becoming a bad thing more than a good thing for him.
The match between Top Flight and the Butcher and the Blade was pretty good. I like Top Flight as a tag team act and I always want to see more Butcher and the Blade.
I think that these teams work well together and I still want to see more of them. The Butcher and the Blade even makes me want to see more of the Bunny, which I never thought I would say.
Lastly, the BBC against Ari Davari and Tony Nese was great. I still hate and will continue to tell everyone how much I hate that AEW constantly keep Ari Davari away from the Trustbuster while they keep showcasing the Trustbusters on Dark and Elevation.
At this point, I think that Tony Nese and Mark Sterling should just join the Trustbusters. And Davari also has some of the best music in AEW.
Despite this small rant, I think the match was the best match of the night. I loved Mark Sterling on the mic before the match also.
