On the most recent episode of AEW Rampage, we would see The Elite once again defeat the trio of AR Fox & Top Flight. This marked the third defence of the AEW World Trios Championships since The Elite won their best of seven series against Death Triangle – however with just two weeks to go until AEW Revolution – their latest challengers might have just stepped up, that being The House of Black.
House Of Black Want The AEW World Trios Championships
After a glitch showed House of Black during the promo setting up The Elite vs. AR Fox & Top Flight II – there was speculation that the faction led by Malakai Black would be looking for gold soon. However, following the match – the lights would go out, and Malakai Black & Brody King were standing on the ramp – staring The Elite down. Buddy Matthews was not on hand, currently in Australia where he recently won the MCW Heavyweight Championship.
The intentions of House of Black are clear, and they’ve lacked a feud since defeating Eddie Kingston & Ortiz, which is the feud that made Eddie Kingston snap. Since making their return in late 2023, House of Black has a perfect 3-0 record in trios matches. Their only notable loss as a trio was against Darby Allin, Sting & Miro at All Out 2022 – making them one of the best trios in AEW history.
A Big Title Match For PPV
Fans have been wanting to see another big match from The Elite, and House of Black is a perfect fit. While the likes of The Firm & Top Flight are fine for TV defenses on AEW Dynamite or Rampage – you need big matches for PPV events, and The Elite vs. House of Black is a huge match for AEW.
Some fans will have issue with this angle only starting two weeks away from the PPV, with House of Black being on standby while The Elite wrestled low stakes matches. This match will generate plenty of hype over the next two weeks, but a full feud could have played out by the time we got this championship match.
